Beef

All of our beef is locally reared and specifically selected from in and around the Mendips. These are prime cattle from assured farms, which apply strict standards of good farming practices and animal welfare. Choose from sirloin and rib of beef trimmed, for roasting to whole fillet and rib eye steaks, oxtail or brisket, prime mince or steak burgers and beef olives. We offer a full range of joints and cuts, prepared by our specially trained butchers.

 Over the past two years, we have developed a partnership with C & S meats, in Sherbourne, Dorset. Charlie Goodland, the owner has a purpose built abattoir onsite, which has enabled Jon Thorner's to set up our own cutting room. This means we are now able to source locally farmed animals and provides a fully traceable assured supply chain, from farm to shop.

 Jon Thorner's also purchases beef through Alec Jarret Ltd who are based between Bristol and Bath. Together, we have developed the 'ASHDALE' brand which uses only premium selected beef cattle that undergo a seven day maturation period on the bone. This provides our customers with a tender product that is full of flavour and succulence.

A weekly list is available at each of our outlets, stating the farmers who supplied our beef during that particular month.
