Born and bred in Somerset Mr Jon Thorner opened one of the regions very first farm shops in 1979, as an extension of the family farm and abattoir. The core of the business was built upon using locally sourced and high welfare meat with a strong focus on fair pricing for suppliers.
The meat industry has changed dramatically since 1979 and it was important for Jon Thorner’s to diversify. So in 2005 the first Jon Thorner’s pie was baked! As the kitchen gained confidence, the number of awards grew and Mr Thorner knew they had something special to offer. The range has grown significantly now offering a range of pies, quiches, savouries, ready meals, desserts and cakes – and did you know each pie is still hand crimped and individually filled.
The quality of our ingredients, the authentic homemade appearance and flavour of our kitchen range has delivered us multiple awards across the food industry including Great Taste, British Pie Awards, Taste of the West and Smithfield Awards, and our staff and the business have also been recognised regionally and within the industry at Somerset Business and Mendip Business Awards.
